照片中的小象寶寶才一週大，沒想到3年半後，她就被綁架了！被綁架後的幾年，小象失去了自由，更被虐待馴化，利用關牢籠的方法讓她臣服於觀光集團不肖商人的迫害下。

三年多的期間，觀光客付錢乘坐在小象身上，深不知為了拍照體驗之樂，換來的卻是大象無盡的眼淚。

For more than three years, tourists paid for rides on the young elephant, likely unaware of the mistreatment she suffered for their photo ops.

小象脫離母親後，往往憂鬱到食慾大受影響。最後當小象瘦到人類再也無法壓榨的地步，就會把他釋放到大象自然公園 (Elephant Nature Park) 尋找庇護。

自從小象Me-Bai退出觀光界後，保護人員便開始幫助她恢復元氣，等到健康狀態穩定後，就帶著她走完最後一趟…回家！

Officially retired from the trekking industry, caretakers began rehabilitating Me-Bai's strength and, when she was well enough, brought her out for one more long hike...

經過追蹤，工作人員發現她媽媽住在離保護區60多里 (約97公里) 的地方。

The workers discovered her mother was living only a little over 60 miles away from their facility.

與Mae Yui的主人一番協商後，終於讓這對母女有重聚的機會。

After negotiations with Mae Yui's owners, they were given permission to finally reunite the mother and daughter.

這段長途跋涉總共花了4天的時間，但最終保育者總算見證了Me-Bai與母親在叢林中相認的那一刻。

The long journey took Me-Bai and her caretakers four days to reach the jungle where her mother was waiting for her.

起初，母女雙方都不知道會有這麼意想不到的驚喜。

當媽媽與小孩兩眼對望的那一剎那，時間似乎靜止了，取代驚訝的是歡聚的感動。

When the little-big family saw each other for the first time in years, they seemed to be in silent shock.

They spent the about thirty minutes simply staring at each other, apprehensively processing whether what they thought was happening was <em>really happening</em>.

當他們發現這突如其來的喜訊並不是一場空夢，就開始不停的對話、擁抱與親暱地纏繞彼此的象鼻。

But once the reality sunk in, they began babbling with each other, hugging, and affectionately linking their trunks together like no time had passed.

Mai Yui的主人看了這個家庭重聚的畫面，十分感動。同時，他也非常認同庇護所的「寵愛厚皮類動物」計劃，因此同意一併釋放母象媽媽，放她們自由。

Moved by their family bond, and impressed by the sanctuary's "<a href="http://www.elephantnaturepark.org/enp/en/visit-volunteer/projects/viewproperty/pamper-a-pachyderm-full-day-visit/44?thisProperty=44" target="_blank">Pamper a Pachyderm</a>" program, Mae Yui's owner agreed to go one step further and allowed her to be fully released from the trekking business.
