Treya is getting a second chance at life after chewing off her own paw to escape chains she was tethered to at a home in St Louis, Missouri

Earlier this year, the chain became tightly wound around Treya's foot, and it was so painful, that she chewed off her own foot to free herself

It is unknown why the neighbors did not call authorities when they first found the dog, or earlier than five years after Treya's owner's death

动保组织创办人Randy Grim表示，由于狗狗一直以来都是自己独处，因此很怕跟人类互动。

Along with her missing paw, Treya also suffered from heartworm and a severe skin infection

 

她现在接受着心丝虫和皮肤感染治疗，而收容所也正在募款，希望可以给她买义肢。

Stray Rescue said that after spending so many years alone, Treya feared human interaction. But now, she's receiving a second chance at life

 

现在，狗狗正在慢慢康复中，在一个寄养家庭跟其他狗狗相处。

But, while rehabilitating, Treya now lives with a foster family who is trying to socialize her with other dogs.

 

「她是一只又美又棒的狗狗，她的第二次生命将不会再被锁链束缚。」动保组织创办人Randy Grim说。

Stray Rescue says it hopes residents won't hesitate to call in the future if they see an animal in need of help
